Saudi Arabia and the emirate of Abu Dhabi plan to double their production of petrochemicals by producing chemicals that are used in plastics. Their target is to see an increase of 11.4 million tons a year by 2025.
The EPA stakeholders met to evaluate the risk and prioritize information that should be placed under the Toxic Substances Control Act. The EPA believes they are meeting the statutory criteria based off of their TSCA risk assessment.
US Methanol is proposing a plan to build a methanol production facility in Kanawha County, West Virginia. They will deconstruct a methanol plant in Brazil and reconstruct it in West Virginia bringing in 60 full-time jobs and 300 temporary construction positions.
Environmental Protection Agency is deciding if over 300 new chemicals can enter commerce. President Obama signed the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety Act which reset the 90 day timeline. Testing for these chemicals will continue for another month and a half before any verdict is released.
