Heptane is a colorless liquid. Heptane is used to prepare pesticide and pharmaceutical intermediates, in electronics cleaning, as a raw material for organic synthesis, as an extractant solvent for aromatic sulfur compounds, as a co-solvent in chromatography and as a pore swelling agent to control particle morphology and pore size of SBA-15.
