Ethyl acetate is a colorless liquid. Ethyl Acetate is a widely used solvent for paints, varnishes, lacquers, cleaning mixtures, and perfumes. Ethyl Acetate is also used as an extraction solvent for the decaffeination of tea and coffee beans, a process solvent in pharmaceuticals, carrier solvent in adhesives, printing inks, and nail polish. It is a commonly used solvent for column and thin-layer chromatography in labs. Ethyl Acetate is also used in the production of artificial leather and perfumes, airplane glue, and nail polish removers. Ethyl Acetate is also employed as a synthetic flavoring agent and as a food additive in some packaging materials.
