Mineral Spirits, Reg. is a colorless liquid. It is a broadly used synthetic, organic solvent obtained from refined crude oil. It is a petroleum mixture of distilled alkanes, cycloalkanes (naphthenes), and aromatics. It is used as a paint thinner, as a solvent in photocopy toners, printing inks, adhesives, dry cleaning, and as a cleaner and degreaser. It is employed as a solvent for extraction and in aerosols, paints, lacquers, varnishes, wood preservatives, and asphalt compounds.
